The good word on child care

The word's out: families have been raving about Torquay's YMCA Early Learning Centre.

New kid on the block Torquay YMCA Early Learning Centre is already getting rave reviews from local families, who say the centre’s experienced educators are warm, friendly, engaged and caring.
“Families are really enthusiastic about the nature-inspired outdoor play area, which emphasises natural materials rather than plastic,” centre manager Adam Kavanagh says.
“Our parents love that their children have lots of opportunities to use their imagination in craft activities and creative play.”
Torquay YMCA Early Learning Centre has been designed to give young children aged six weeks to five years the best possible start to their schooling. Adam Kavanagh and his team look after each child’s individual needs, and encourage them to get to know the natural environment and their local community.
“We give every child a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment, so they are happy, healthy and stimulated, and can fulfil their potential,” Adam says. “Children can choose from indoor and outdoor activities that draw on our community links and YMCA Victoria’s wider resources.”
The centre’s caring educators also help children prepare for a smooth and confident transition to primary school. A recent survey by YMCA Children’s Programs found children are happier starting school and more confident about making new friends after going to a YMCA early learning program. The centre is co-located with Torquay Coast Primary (currently in construction) to make the transition process even smoother.
When the newly built Torquay Coast Primary opens its doors in first term 2018, the YMCA Centre will also provide quality before and after school care to school students. Having a single drop-off point is a big plus for busy families who have children in primary school and in child care.
“If you’re looking for great child care in Torquay this year or 2018, call us to book a tour,” Adam says.
“We’d love to show you how we can help!”
