The Canola Flowering Festival Family Fun Day is a community event to support drought stricken farmers.
Freshwater Creek farmer Barry Schulze has sacrificed part of his canola crop to carve out a heart shape message of hope for interstate farmers battling drought.
The Family Fun Day will feature live music in the middle of Barry’s crop – a venture that may break a Guinness World Record. For a record-breaking feat, 500 people are needed to fill the outer track of the heart for a drone photo.
Families can also walk through a crop of flowering canola and enjoy an array of food stalls and activities, including a jumping castle and bucking bull.
Patrons are asked to bring a picnic rug and something red, and to a golden kilometre to support drought affected farmers and give them hope.
Proceeds will go to farming families in most need in the Upper Hunter region and across to Broken Hill.
