UPDATE:
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed their first child, a son.
A beaming Prince Harry announced the birth, saying both his wife and the baby were doing incredibly well.
“I’m so very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy.. a very healthy boy,” he said from Windsor.
The royal baby was born on Monday 6 May at 5.26am London time (2.26pm AEST), weighing 7lbs and 3oz.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still yet to decide what to name their son.
James, Arthur, Spencer, Philip and Albert are among the names favoured by punters.
Prince Harry said he was proud of his wife and grateful for the support they had received from the public.
“it’s been the most amazing experience I could have ever possibly imagined,” he said.
“I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.
“As any father and parent would ever say, you know ‘you’re baby is absolutely amazing.
“But this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I’m just over the moon.”
EARLIER: The arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child is imminent – and it’s odds on to be a girl.
As the world awaits the arrival of the royal baby, bookies are taking plenty of bets on its gender and name.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have managed to keep their baby’s sex a secret, there have been rumours the couple are expecting a girl.
But there have also been reports they will have a boy.
Bookmaker odds, however, currently favour a girl.
Sportsbet, for instance, is offering punters $1.72 for a girl and $2 for a boy.
They are also offering $3.75 for twins.
The royal couple, who married in May last year, are due to welcome their bundle of joy any day now.
It has been widely reported that the due date was sometime in April.
As for a name, Diana is still the front-runner.
Grace, Alice, Arthur and Isobella are among the other names being favoured by punters.
